BUILT FOR WORK AT THE POTTERY WHEEL

A standard apron works well when you're standing at a workbench. Working at a pottery wheel is different.

Our No.412 Ceramicist Apron was designed specifically for the seated position of a potter at the wheel. Its overlapping split-leg construction allows each side of the apron to fall naturally over your legs as you sit, providing coverage where a conventional straight apron tends to bunch, pull, or leave your legs exposed.

The result is a pottery apron that moves with you rather than against you—whether you're throwing at the wheel, wedging clay, glazing, trimming, or moving around the studio.

10 OZ COTTON CANVAS

We make the No.412 from durable 10 oz cotton double fill canvas duck—a substantial natural-fiber fabric that provides protection without the bulk and stiffness of our heavier workshop aprons.

For pottery and ceramics, that balance matters. The canvas is sturdy enough for regular studio use while remaining comfortable and flexible enough for sitting, bending, reaching, and moving between the wheel and workbench.

And because a pottery apron is going to get dirty, we designed this one to be washable.

REMOVABLE CROSS-BACK STRAPS

Long studio sessions are hard enough without an apron pulling against the back of your neck.

The No.412 uses cross-back cotton straps that distribute the apron across the shoulders rather than hanging its weight from the neck. The straps are adjustable to accommodate a broad range of bodies and can be completely removed before laundering.

Removing the straps also means that a worn or damaged strap can be replaced rather than making the entire apron disposable.

POCKETS WHERE THEY'RE USEFUL

A divided pocket across the front bib keeps frequently used tools close at hand without loading up the lower portion of the apron.

Behind the bib is a larger kangaroo-style pocket for the things that don't fit neatly into smaller compartments.

Like the rest of the apron, the pocket layout is intentionally straightforward. We want an apron to support the work—not compete with it.

SMALL-BATCH MADE IN OMAHA, NEBRASKA

Every No.412 Ceramicist Apron is cut and sewn in small batches in our Omaha, Nebraska studio.

ARTIFACT has been making purpose-built bags, aprons, and accessories since 2010. Small-batch production allows us to pay attention to the things that are easy to overlook in mass production: material selection, stitch quality, reinforcement, construction, and how a product actually performs after repeated use.

We don't design our pottery aprons as disposable studio gear. We make them as working tools meant to be used, washed, worn in, and kept in service.
